Welcome to the Engine

Hello, Im here to tell you a little bit about how an engine works, but What is an engine? you may ask. Have you ever wondered what makes cars, buses, boats, aeroplanes and trains move. To move such big objects you would need something very powerful that can make the wheels or propellors turn.

THE ENGINE

We are like engines in a lot of ways. We turn the food we eat into an energy form that we can use which we store inside our bodies. Some of this energy can then be used to help us move. An engine also needs energy to move but it cant eat food like you and I, so where does an engine get its energy from and what does it do with it. A racing car can travel at speeds faster than 200 miles per hour, that's about ten times faster than an adult can run!

So what do we know so far.

1. Engines are used to make cars move.
   	 

2. An engine must turn a cars wheels to make it move.
   	 

3. Engines need fuel like we need food (which is our fuel).
